Justice Detainee Information System consolidates four United States Marshals Service applications: Warrant Information Network (WIN), Prisoner Tracking System (PTS), Automated Prisoner Scheduling System (APSS), and Automated Booking System (ABS) to produce a centralized database containing the majority of prisoner data records collected by the United States Marshals Service. Justice Detainee Information System is currently in development mode.
The purpose of Justice Detainee Information System is to have one database that can be accessed to reveal complete prisoner records of all prisoners who are in custody or have a federal warrant issued or are scheduled for a move.
All records in Justice Detainee Information System are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need to know to perform their official duties, using locks and alarm devices, passwords and/or encrypting data communications.
Users of Justice Detainee Information System will be restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.
The United States Marshals Service is charged with ensuring the effective operation of the judicial system. Justice Detainee Information System will be the primary information system tool to accomplish this.
