Apprehended Most Wanted Fugitive Opens Fire on U.S. Marshals Service Task Force

For immediate release

Nataly Maldonado Rivera, Public Affairs Officer

District of Puerto Rico
(939) 475-6951

Guaynabo, Puerto Rico – Jerome Guadalupe, a most wanted fugitive, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals from the District of Puerto Rico Monday in the Guaynabo municipality.

Guadalupe was apprehended after opening fire on officers and attempting to flee the scene while impacting task force officers with his vehicle. Officers were injured during this operation and are currently stable and receiving medical attention.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) assumed the investigative responsibilities for the possible filing of federal charges against Guadalupe.

“Without the Police Department of the Municipality of Guaynabo, state and federal partners, this operation would not have been feasible,” said U.S. Marshal Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra. “Their prompt response to safeguard the community throughout the arrest was faultless. The primary purpose of the U.S. Marshals is to protect our communities, and today's arrest served to do just that. In addition to facing and serving time for the previous criminal offenses, Guadalupe is a violent offender who threated the well-being of our citizens”.
