CA Domestic Violence, Rape Suspect Arrested in WI Convenience Store

Dublin, CA – The U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF)in northern California, with assistance from the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF) Green Bay and Madison divisions, arrested on March 15 in Waucapa, Wisconsin, a Dixon man wanted on multiple warrants for domestic violence and rape. 

Andrew Newman, 27, was arrested on warrants from Dixon Police Department for four counts of inflicting corporal injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of rape. During the investigation Dixon Police discovered Newman fled the state and the victim was missing.

As concern grew for the safety of the victim, the PSWRFTF in northern California provided priority investigative leads to the GLRFTF in Wisconsin and through coordinated law enforcement efforts, Newman was tracked down and arrested in Waucapa. The victim was located with Newman alive and safe.

“The collaboration between local law enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Forces to arrest Newman over 2,000 miles away in under 48 hours from adopting the case is a testament to the nationwide reach the U. S. Marshals have,” said Chief Inspector Justin Davis, PSWRFTF commander. “I truly appreciate the dedicated work by the task force in Wisconsin working late Friday evening.”

The PSWRFTF began operations in April 2002. With partnership agreements with over 53 federal, state, or local agencies, the PSWRFTF has been able to successfully apprehend over 105,900 fugitives since inception. The PSWRFTF has made an extraordinary impact on the apprehension of the region’s most dangerous and violent fugitives striving to make their communities and citizens safer.
