California Double-Homicide Suspect Arrested in Windsor Heights

Windsor Heights, IA – Members of the U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force, in coordination with the Long Beach, California, Police Department, arrested a double-homicide suspect in the 7600 block of Windsor Heights September 16.

The arrest ended a nearly two-week search for the suspect which began in California on September 4. That is when Long Beach Police homicide detectives believe Joshua Lee Wells, a 29-year-old Long Beach resident, fatally shot Juan Guizar-Gutierrez and Maricela Honorato.

This U.S. Marshals News Release of the arrest was delayed at the request of California authorities.

The U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (SIFTF) is a group of law enforcement officers from multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies across the Southern District of Iowa. Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force's mission is to locate and apprehend fugitives charged with crimes of violence and wanted on outstanding felony arrest warrants. Membership on the Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force includes the U.S. Marshals Service, Polk County Sheriff's Office, 5th Judicial District Probation and Parole, Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Ames Police Department, 4th Judicial District Probation and Parole, Council Bluffs Police Department, Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Scott County Sheriff's office.
