Connecticut Fugitive Accused of Manslaughter Captured in Maine

Portland, ME – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), Maine Violent Offender Task Force (MVOTF) announce the arrest of Walter Lawson, 41, of Bridgeport, CT. Lawson was arrested yesterday in Bangor, Maine by members of the U.S. Marshals, Maine Violent Offender Task Force on a warrant issued from the State of Connecticut, charging him with 1st degree Manslaughter.

The United States Marshals Service, District of Connecticut, Violent Fugitive Task Force requested the assistance of the USMS, MVOTF to assist in locating and apprehending Lawson. Through a joint, collaborative law enforcement effort, authorities developed information which led investigators to Bangor, Maine.

USMS Task Force members located Lawson at a hotel in Bangor and safely apprehend him without incident.

Lawson is charged as a Fugitive from Justice and will be arraigned in Maine pending his extradition back to Connecticut.

The USMS, Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force.
