For immediate release

Anne Murphy, Public Affairs Officer

Northern District of Ohio
Cleveland, OH
(216) 522-2150

Akron, OH – Late yesterday morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Matt Walker, 32.  Walker was wanted by the Akron Police Department for felonious assault, domestic violence, strangulation and violations of his parole.  Walker was being supervised by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for having weapons while under disability.

Walker was wanted for a drive by shooting that occurred on October 22 of this year in the 300 block of West Miller Rd. in Akron.  During the drive by, a female victim who was sitting on her porch was struck by gunfire.  She sustained serious injuries but survived the shooting.

Members of the NOVFTF located Walker at a home in the 1100 block of Becker Ln. in Akron.  He was arrested at the home without incident and taken to Summit County Jail.  During the arrest of Walker, a 9mm untraceable handgun was recovered.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “A dangerous and violent fugitive, with no regard for the Akron community and its citizens is now behind bars.  A fugitive who is under supervision for weapons violations, wanted for new weapons related offenses, and found with a firearm at the time of his arrest is exactly who needs to be taken off the streets to protect our communities.”

Anyone with information concerning a wanted fugitive can contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833), or you can submit a web tip. Reward money is available, and tipsters may remain anonymous.  Follow the U.S. Marshals on Twitter @USMSCleveland.
