Federal Escapee Apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Colorado

Denver, CO – An inmate who had escaped from FCI Englewood in Colorado after walking away from a satellite camp at the prison was apprehended without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service from the District of Colorado and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation at approximately 11:30 am today in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Frank Elliott was serving a 15 year sentence for a conviction of federal drug charges out of the District of South Dakota. BOP discovered Elliott was missing from custody after conducting a prisoner count.

U.S. Marshals in Denver developed information that Elliott had fled to Grand Junction. It is not clear how he traveled to that area. Elliott was found in a park near a bus station by Deputy Marshals and Colorado Bureau of Investigation agents from the Grand Junction Office. It is believed Elliott was possibly trying to travel back to Denver. An investigation into his time on the run is ongoing.
