Fugitive Former Alabama Police Office Arrested by U.S. Marshals in New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Last night, the U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force was able to locate and arrest a former Alabama police officer who was on the run from some very serious charges. Joshua Matthew Davidson, 30 years-of-age whose last known address was in Fort Deposit, Alabama, was located and arrested in an apartment on C Street in Hampton, New Hampshire.

Mr. Davidson was being sought on three outstanding arrest warrants issued on June 25, 2020 by the Dallas County, Alabama District Court. These arrest warrants included allegations of human trafficking, 2nd degree kidnapping and 1st degree sodomy. The courts in Alabama requested that bail be set in the amount of $250,000. Davidson was aware of these charges and had originally indicated to authorities in Alabama that he would surrender to them. Mr. Davidson failed to surrender and fled Alabama.

Yesterday afternoon, members of U.S. Marshals – Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information indicating that Davidson was likely in the seacoast area of New Hampshire. This information was relayed to the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force. After an extensive search was conducted, members of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force were able to locate a vehicle associated with Davidson at an apartment building on C Street in Hampton, New Hampshire.

Shortly after 6:30PM last night, members of the task force moved in and were able to arrest Davidson without incident inside an apartment on C Street. Davidson was initially transported to the Hampton Police Department, were his arrest warrants were confirmed. Davidson was then transported to the Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood, New Hampshire where he was processed and held without bail as a fugitive from justice on the outstanding Alabama arrest warrants. Mr. Davidson will have his initial court appearance in Hampton District Court on Monday. If Mr. Davidson waives his extradition, he will be returned to Alabama to face these extremely serious charges.

This arrest was the combined effort of the many agencies that comprise the U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force including; the Belknap & Rockingham County Sheriff's Offices, the Greenfield, Hampton and Seabrook (New Hampshire) Police Departments, Federal Protective Service, the New Hampshire State Police, along with deputy U.S. Marshals.

U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said, "This arrest is another great example of the network of investigators of the U.S. Marshals Service that spans the country and the globe." Willard continued, "Fugitive cases evolve rapidly and our task force is able to respond equally as quickly to ensure that we can safely take these accused violent fugitives off the streets."

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 7,908 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2019). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
