Fugitive of the Week Surrenders to U.S. Marshals

Concord, NH – The United States Marshals Service is very happy to announce that this week's "Fugitive of the Week" for New Hampshire has surrendered. Jeremy David Michael, 46 years-of-age, currently of Tilton, New Hampshire surrendered to members of the U.S. Marshals along with the Tilton Police Department. Michael was being sought on Belknap County (New Hampshire) Superior Court warrant for failing to appear on January 25, 2021 on charges of 1st degree assault with a deadly weapon, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and criminal threatening.

Mr. Michael had been featured just yesterday, February 3rd as the "Fugitive of the Week," which was aired on WTPL-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.

This morning Michael called the United States Marshals and asked how he could take care of this warrant? The deputy that spoke to Mr. Michael stated that we could pick him up and take him to the Belknap County Jail and start the process there. Michael agreed to this arrangement and a deputy U.S. Marshal along with a Tilton Police Officer facilitated his surrender.

Mr. Michael was brought to the Belknap County Jail where he was processed and is being held on his outstanding warrant. Michael will have a video arraignment with the Belknap County Superior Court later today.

United States Marshal, Nick Willard said, "Surrendering truly is a positive step in the right direction to resolve your legal problems." Willard continued, "The United States Marshals Service continues to advocate for people to take responsibility for their actions by turning yourself in if you know you have an arrest warrant, just like Mr. Michael did today."

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,218 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
