For immediate release

Northern District of Ohio
Cleveland, OH

Cleveland, OH – Early this morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Javyonne Stewart, 20.  Stewart was wanted by the Euclid Police Department for aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, improper handling of firearms, and tampering with evidence.

Stewart is the last of three suspects wanted in connection to the drive by shooting death of Maurco Toler, who was 13 years old when he died.  Toler was shot and killed outside of a friend’s home on Zeman Ave. in Euclid on December 11, 2021.  The two other suspects, Duane Jackson and Leroy Billips have already been convicted of Tolar’s murder and sentenced to life in prison. Jackson was arrested at Benedictine High School by the NOVFTF on January 12, 2022, and Billips surrendered to law enforcement on June 22, 2022.

The NOVFTF has been working to find Stewart since March of 2022 when his warrant was issued.  The NOVFTF featured Stewart as the Fugitive of the Week over the past three years and followed up on numerous leads in the area.  Early today, the investigation was closed when Stewart was taken into custody without incident at a home in the 10500 block of Olivet Ave. in Cleveland.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This case has been ongoing for over three years but investigators on our team never gave up that they would find this suspect and bring some peace and justice to the family of Maurco Tolar.”
