Del Rio, TX – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force assisted Mexican authorities from Policia Civil Coahuila, Mexico, with the arrest of a San Antonio fugitive in Mexico who was wanted out of Bexar County for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Isaac James Garcia, 34, was located and apprehended on April 10, by Mexican authorities in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico with information provided by Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Del Rio office.

Garcia was subsequently expelled from Mexico through the International Port of Entry in Eagle Pass, Texas, by the Instituto Nacional de Migración and was transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service without incident. He will be returned to Bexar County, where he will face his pending criminal charges.

In 2018, Garcia was arrested on charges of transporting undocumented immigrants into the United States for financial gain and was later released on bond after agreeing to appear at all court proceedings. He subsequently violated the conditions of his pretrial release and was charged in Bexar County District Court with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Multiple coordinated efforts by law enforcement to locate and apprehend Garcia were unsuccessful, as he repeatedly evaded capture. In April 2024, Mexican authorities conducting patrol operations identified Garcia in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and attempted to detain him. Garcia fled by entering the driver’s seat of a nearby vehicle and leading authorities on a brief but dangerous pursuit, ultimately escaping and placing innocent bystanders at significant risk of serious injury or death.

This arrest was the result of coordinated efforts among multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service offices in Del Rio and San Antonio, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Policia Civil Coahuila (PCC), the Fiscalia General del Estado de Coahuila (FGE), the U.S. Department of State, and the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM).

“Our deputies never stopped looking for this fugitive,” said Susan Pamerleau, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas.

“Working hand in hand with our Mexican law enforcement partners, we remained relentless in our pursuit, sending a clear message that no matter how far you run or how long you hide, we will find you and bring you to justice.”
