Memphis Safe Task Force Significant Arrests for Jan. 6: 67 Criminal Arrests, 10 More Illegal Guns Seized

Memphis, TN – Members of the Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) on Tuesday executed 67 criminal arrests and seized 10 more illicit firearms.
Of note:
Montavius Wells, 28, a documented Vice Lords gang member, was arrested in the 3700 block of Douglas Avenue on a warrant for first-degree murder issued Dec. 26, 2025, for the shooting death of Cadarious Williams Dec. 25 at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Blueberry Hill.
Following a search warrant, the MSTF arrested a juvenile in the 800 block of Pawnee Avenue on a warrant for second-degree murder issued Jan. 2 for the Dec. 19 shooting death of Sherman Berry at 850 West Raines Rd.
Tommy McShane, 60, was arrested in the 900 block of Alaska Street on a warrant for second-degree murder issued Nov. 14, 2025, for the Sept. 4, 2025, shooting death of Sean Lambert Sr. in the 2300 block of Eldridge Avenue.
Since the launch of the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative, officers have made 4,908 arrests and seized 798 illegal firearms, as well as substantial quantities of narcotics, and related contraband. These enforcement actions reflect a sustained commitment to reducing violent crime and removing dangerous weapons from Memphis neighborhoods.
Launched in September 2025, the Memphis Safe Task Force is a multi-agency initiative to combat violent crime in Memphis. Composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as the Tennessee National Guard, the task force is focused on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms, and locating missing children.
This operation reflects the Memphis Safe Task Force’s commitment to coordinated enforcement efforts and its mission to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
