Memphis, TN – Members of the Memphis Safe Task Force on Thursday executed 52 criminal arrests and seized 10 more illicit firearms.

Of note:

Jeremy D. Walls, 36, was arrested in the 200 block of Poplar Avenue on a Shelby County warrant issued May 6, 2023, for criminal attempt first-degree murder stemming from an incident at his residence in the 1300 block of Ledger Road in which he is alleged to have beaten his girlfriend following an argument, causing her to be hospitalized with a concussion, several cervical fractures and other injuries.

Stevens R. Flakes, 33, was arrested following a traffic stop at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 900 block of East E.H. Crump Boulevard and East Street for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony crime, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle yielded a 9 mm handgun in the center console and 18.5 pills that tested positive for MDMA. Flakes was transported to the Shelby County Jail for booking and processing.

Since the launch of the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative, officers have made 5,007 arrests and seized 813 illegal firearms, as well as substantial quantities of narcotics, and related contraband. These enforcement actions reflect a sustained commitment to reducing violent crime and removing dangerous weapons from Memphis neighborhoods.

Launched in September 2025, the Memphis Safe Task Force is a multi-agency initiative to combat violent crime in Memphis. Composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as the Tennessee National Guard, the task force is focused on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms, and locating missing children. Since the operation began, the MSTF has located 135 missing children.

This operation reflects the Memphis Safe Task Force’s commitment to coordinated enforcement efforts and its mission to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
