Self-Proclaimed Sovereign Citizen Apprehended on Multiple Warrants

Grafton, NH – On the evening of November 7, members of the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group (SOG), District of New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force, and Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) executed a joint operation resulting in the apprehension of Seamus Murphy, 43. He was wanted by MSCO on two counts of Failure to Appear for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle as a Habitual Offender.
Murphy's previous offenses include felon in possession of a firearm, escape, and multiple convictions for the same of controlled substances and narcotics.
U.S. Marshals New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force investigated Murphy and once locating him on his large, rural property, they requested tactical assistance from U.S. Marshals SOG. Once SOG surrounded his property, Murphy surrendered and was apprehended without incident and transported by MSCO.
Once U.S. Marshals arrested Murphy, MSCO took over the scene and executed a state search warrant. The search resulted in police finding several firearms, multiple 3D lowers of firearms, body armor, explosive materials and devices, and various ammunition. He was additionally charged with eight counts of Felon in Possession, three counts of Possession of Explosives, and Resisting Arrest.
“The NHJFTF’s investigative skills and dedication led to the capture of Murphy and now our communities in New Hampshire are safer,” said Acting U.S. Marshal Katherine Burns.
“The Special Operations Group worked quickly to ensure that this violent suspect was quickly taken off the streets once identified.”
“This joint operation is a stark reminder of the dangerous individuals we pursue every day in Merrimack County,” said Sheriff David Croft. “Thanks to the swift cooperation between the U.S. Marshals, our task-force partners and our deputies, a heavily-armed suspect wanted on multiple warrants is now safely off the streets. Our community can rest easier tonight.”
