St. Croix Man Arrested by U.S. Marshals for Failing to Keep Sex Offender Registration Current

St. Thomas, VI – A man arrested for failing to comply with sex offender registry requirements in the past has been re-arrested in St. Croix.

Daniel Cove, wanted on an outstanding Virgin Islands warrant for failure to keep sex offender registration current and failure to verify address, was arrested on Sept. 9 by U.S. Marshals in the District of the Virgin Islands.

On Aug. 24, the Virgin Islands Department of Justice requested assistance from the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF) in the District of the Virgin Islands in locating and arresting Cove.

On June 23, 2002, Cove was convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 in Massachusetts and sentenced to prison. He was released in 2013 and is required by the Virgin Islands Department of Justice to register every six months for 25 years. Since his release from prison, Cove has been re-arrested multiple times for failing to update his sex offender registration.

With combined local and federal law enforcement resources and expertise, Cove was located on Sept. 9 in Downtown Christiansted and taken into custody without incident.

Cove was turned over to the custody of the Virgin Islands Police Department and booked at the John A. Bell Correctional Facility.
