Suspect Wanted for Killing Innocent Bystander in 2021 Arrested by U.S. Marshals

For immediate release

Anne Murphy, Public Affairs Officer

Northern District of Ohio
Cleveland, OH
(216) 276-7505

Cleveland, OH – Late this morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Regis Hill, 30.  Hill was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder.

On July 5, 2021, the victim, Santino Wilson, 39, was walking on the sidewalk in the area of East 75th and Kinsman Ave. on Cleveland’s east side.  At that same intersection two groups of males were involved in a verbal altercation.  The altercation eventually turned violent with at least one person firing a gun multiple times.  The gunfire struck Santino Wilson in the chest.  He later died at the hospital.

Since the incident, members of the Cleveland Division of Police have worked to identify the suspect in this case.  Earlier in February of this year the police named Hill as the suspect in the murder.  The case was then turned over to the NOVFTF for the fugitive investigation last month.  Earlier today, members of the task force were able to locate a car Hill was known to drive in the 19400 block of Kewanee Ave. in Cleveland.  Officers called out to Hill to open the door but even after seeing Hill move around in the home he refused to answer the door.  Members of the task force breached the door of the home and safely took Hill into custody without further incident.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This type of careless violence has no place in our communities.  We will hold those who commit these terrible crimes and who take the victims from their families accountable.  The Cleveland Police and the U.S. Marshals Service will not give up on cases such as this, solving them and finding those responsible.”
