For immediate release
Anne Murphy, Public Affairs Officer
Toledo, OH – Late this morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Marshaun Purley, 18. Purley was wanted by the Toledo Police Department for murder and felonious assault.
Purley and another suspect, Marvin Pettaway, were wanted in connection to the deadly November 2 shooting at an after-hours bar near Reynolds and Hill Ave. During the incident three people were shot and one victim, Jasmine Queen, 18, was killed. Pettaway was arrested in a stolen vehicle at an earlier date.
Members of the NOVFTF have been looking for Purley for just over a month. This morning, the task force was able to locate Purley at an address in the 1200 block of Cribb St. in Toledo. As officers spoke with a female at the front door of the residence, Purley fled on foot out the back door. After officers pursued Purley on foot, he was located hiding in the snow behind a fence. He was arrested without further incident approximately four blocks away.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Senseless violence took the victim away from her family, friends and community. Law enforcement worked diligently to bring the second suspect into custody, hopefully this arrest brings the victim’s family some peace.”
