U.S. Marshals Apprehend Florida Fugitive Wanted for Sexually Abusing a 9-Year-Old in West Virginia

Charleston, WV - The U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED (Cops United Felony Fugitive Enforcement Division) Task Force have arrested a Florida man wanted by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office for Sexual Battery and a court ordered violation of a drug program. The victim was identified as a 9-year-old female.

Alexander Kyle Nichols, 37, of Bradenton FL was taken into custody at approximately 5:00 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn in Dunbar, W.Va. The Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force received information from the FCRFTF (Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force) that Nichols fled the state of Florida to evade apprehension from law enforcement and was traveling under an alias.

After his arrest, Nichols was arraigned by a Kanawha County Magistrate. Nichols is currently incarcerated at the South Central Regional Jail awaiting extradition back to Florida.
The U.S. Marshals CUFFED Task Force and the FCRFTF are specialized interagency fugitive task forces overseen by the U.S. Marshals Service. The Southern District of West Virginia, CUFFED TF partners with local, state, and federal law enforcement to track down violent felons and sex offenders.

The U.S. Marshals have a long history of providing assistance and expertise to other law enforcement agencies in support of fugitive investigations. The success of U.S. Marshals task force initiatives, combined with the outstanding relationships forged with other law enforcement agencies, has led to the formation of permanent fugitive task forces, as well as ad-hoc task forces in response to unique cases that pose immediate threat to the public. In 2025, U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive task forces arrested over 73,000 federal, state and local fugitives and cleared nearly 88,000 warrants.
