U.S. Marshals Apprehend West Virginia Sexual Abuse Suspect in Arizona

Charleston, WV - The U.S. Marshals Service Arizona WANTED Task Force arrested in Sedona, Arizona, Friday, an Arizona man wanted by the Parkersburg Police Department for sexual abuse by parent, guardian, or custodian.

Jonathan Gregory Bowersock, 35, of Cottonwood, Arizona, was taken into custody at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the 100 block of East Saddle Horn Road in Sedona.

Between 2014-2020, Bowersock is alleged to have sexually abused a female juvenile family member.

The Parkersburg Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force investigated the case. They learned that Bowersock had fled the Parkersburg area and moved to Arizona.

After his arrest, Bowersock was transported to the Yavapai County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to West Virginia.

The U.S. Marshals Arizona WANTED (Wanted Apprehension Network Targeted Enforcement Detail) and CUFFED (Cops United Felony Fugitive Enforcement Division) Task Forces are specialized interagency fugitive task forces overseen by the U.S. Marshals Service in the District of Arizona and Southern District of West Virginia, partnering with local, state, and federal law enforcement to track down violent felons and sex offenders.

The U.S. Marshals have a long history of providing assistance and expertise to other law enforcement agencies in support of fugitive investigations. The success of U.S. Marshals task force initiatives, combined with the outstanding relationships forged with other law enforcement agencies, has led to the formation of permanent fugitive task forces, as well as ad-hoc task forces in response to unique cases that pose immediate threat to the public. In 2025, U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive task forces arrested over 73,000 federal, state and local fugitives and cleared nearly 88,000 warrants.
