U.S. Marshals Apprehend Woman Wanted for Killing Her Newborn Baby

Bronx, NY - On January 30, 2024, the United States Marshals Service (USMS) New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF), in coordination with the New York City Police Department (NYPD), arrested a woman wanted by the NYPD for a homicide of a baby committed on September 1, 2023.

Lasasha Gouldbourne, 31, was wanted for homicide by asphyxia due to smothering of her newborn baby that was abandoned in an apartment. Gouldbourne thereafter fled the scene. Ms. Gouldbourne has been charged with criminal negligent homicide, assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.     

NY/NJ RFTF investigators, through investigative techniques, determined the suspect was residing in the borough of the Bronx and located Gouldbourne on the 2800 block of Bronx Park, East Bronx. 
Gouldbourne was arrested and transported to the NYPD 49 Precinct Detective Unit for processing.     

The USMS New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force began operations in April 2002. The NY/NJ RFTF has partnership agreements with more than 99 federal, state, and local agencies and operates in New York and New Jersey. The NY/NJ RFTF has apprehended more than 101,000 fugitives since its inception and is always striving to make communities safer.
