U.S. Marshals Arrest - Fugitive of the Week in East Waterboro, Maine

Concord, NH – In a combined effort by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Forces from both Maine and New Hampshire, last week's featured "Fugitive of the Week," Christopher Ryan Ross, 40 years-of-age of Waterboro, Maine was located and arrested early this afternoon. Mr. Ross was being sought on a federal arrest warrant issued out of the U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine. This warrant alleges violations of his conditions of supervised release. Ross had been on supervised release as part of his federal sentence for a prior conviction for the possession with intent to distribute narcotics. Additionally, while on the run on this warrant Mr. Ross is alleged to have fled from law enforcement on multiple occasions and may face additional charges related to those pursuits.

Ross was featured last Wednesday (09/16/20) as the "Fugitive of the Week." This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in both New Hampshire and Maine.

After being featured as the "Fugitive of the Week", several tips were received pointing to multiple locations throughout Maine and New Hampshire. The investigation into these countless tips eventually led the Marshal's Fugitive Task Force to a residence on Leisure Lane in East Waterboro, Maine this afternoon. At this residence, Ross was located and arrested in a rear bedroom without incident. Unknown quantities of narcotics and currency were also located in the residence, which may lead to additional arrests and charges.

Ross was transported to the Cumberland (ME) County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance on Wednesday at the U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine.

This investigation and arrest was made by several member agencies of the U.S. Marshals, Maine Violent Offender's Task Force and the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force including; Maine State Police, the Belknap, Rockingham & Strafford (New Hampshire) County Sheriff's Offices, the Greenfield (New Hampshire) and Biddeford (ME) Police Departments along with deputy U.S. Marshals.

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,061 arrests (Updated as of 06/30/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
