U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive, Tren De Aragua Member for Violent Crimes

For immediate release

Cobb County, GA – In a coordinated effort by the U.S. Marshal Service (USMS) Southeast Regional Task Force (SERFTF), USMS Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Chicago Police Department, Ricardo Gonzales, age 32, was arrested on March 20, 2025, at a residence in Cobb County, Georgia.

Gonzalez had a full extradition arrest warrant from the Chicago Police Department for Kidnapping and is wanted on probable cause for two counts of First-Degree Murder and Attempted First-Degree Murder.   These charges all stem from an incident on January 28, 2025. During this incident, Gonzalez is accused of kidnapping three female victims and taking them to an alley in Chicago, IL, where they were all shot in the head.  Two victims were pronounced deceased on the scene and the surviving victim was able to escape and call 911.  Gonzalez is known to be a high-ranking member of the Venezuelan street gang “Tren De Aragua.”

Gonzales was booked into a jail located in Cobb County, GA where he awaits extradition to Chicago, IL.

During the arrest of Gonzales, five additional people were taken into custody and transferred to ICE ERO facilities.

SERFTF Commander Jim Joyner stated, “He chose to illegally enter the Country, he chose to commit heinous acts of violence, and he chose to try to hide in GA……all bad choices.”

Northern District of Georgia Chief Deputy United States Marshal J. B Stevens said “Let us make it clear to all criminals, we are coming. The United States Marshals Service will not give you a moment of rest. We will find you. We will arrest you. You will be made to answer for your crimes. We worked with our outstanding partners—U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Chicago Police Department—on this apprehension. Together, we’ve made the community a safer place.”

The U. S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) was created by the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000. Congress recognized the U. S. Marshals expertise in tracking and apprehending dangerous fugitives and ordered the creation of regional fugitive task forces (RFTFs) in core cities throughout the country. Via this mandate, SERFTF was created in 2003 and has offices in Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah to assist state, county, and local agencies as a central investigative base to identify, locate and apprehend dangerous offenders.
