U.S. Marshals Capture First Degree Murder Suspect

Memphis, TN – The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Gregory Brown for first degree murder last night, January 29, 2021.

On August 2, 2020, Roderick Ellis was shot to death following a robbery in West Memphis, AR. He followed the perpetrators into Memphis and was shot and killed near the intersection of Riverside and Metal Museum.

A First Degree Murder warrant was issued for Gregory Brown for this crime.

On the evening of January 29, investigators with the Marshals Task Force tracked Brown to a residence in West Memphis located in an apartment near the 900 block of Deaunta Farrow. With the assistance of the West Memphis Violent Crime Unit and the Crittenden County Violent Crime Unit, Brown was located in the apartment and taken into custody without incident.

"We appreciate the assistance of our law enforcement partners in Arkansas to get another murder fugitive off the street," said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
