U.S. Marshals Capture Tennessee Murder Fugitive in Louisiana

Jackson, TN – Charles Wilson, 31, who was wanted for murder in Jackson was captured in Opelousas, Louisiana last week by the U.S. Marshals.

On October 31, 2022, the Jackson Police Department responded to the Rodeway Inn at 2239 Hollywood Drive. A man was found laying at the bottom of the stairwell with a gunshot wound. He was determined to be deceased. Jackson police investigators identified Charles Wilson as a suspect. Arrest warrants were issued for Wilson on charges of First-Degree Murder and Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery. Jackson police contacted the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) for assistance in locating and apprehending Wilson.

After a coordinated investigation by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Jackson and Deputy Marshals in the Western District of Louisiana, Charles Wilson was safely taken into custody January 13, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He will be extradited back to Tennessee to face charges.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
