U.S. Marshals, Dover PD Make 3rd Arrest in 2024 Christmas Eve Homicide

Dover, DE - The U.S. Marshals Service, working with the Dover Police Department, on Thursday arrested a 16-year-old male suspect wanted in connection with the Christmas Eve 2024 shooting that resulted in the death of 14-year-old Juwan Walker.

The shooting occurred north of North Little Creek Road. Walker was initially transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus and later flown to a New Castle County hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries on Dec. 27, 2024

Dover Police investigating Walker’s death obtained an arrest warrant Aug. 10 for the 16-year-old suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident at his residence in Pennsylvania by members of the U.S. Marshals Middle Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force and First State Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from Dover Police detectives.

Upon his extradition to Delaware, he will be charged with second-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18, and possession of ammunition by a person under 18.

This is the third arrest in connection with Walker’s homicide. Dover Police arrested a 15-year-old male and a 13-year-old male, both of Dover, on Dec. 28, 2024, in connection with the shooting.  

The original investigation began after Dover Police responded to a report of a shooting on Dec. 24, 2024, in which Walker was struck while sitting inside a parked vehicle.  

The U.S. Marshals have a long history of providing assistance and expertise to other law enforcement agencies in support of fugitive investigations. The success of U.S. Marshals task force initiatives, combined with the outstanding relationships forged with other law enforcement agencies, has led to the formation of permanent fugitive task forces, as well as ad-hoc task forces in response to unique cases that pose immediate threat to the public. In 2025, U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive task forces arrested over 73,000 federal, state and local fugitives and cleared nearly 88,000 warrants.
