U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Capture Chester County Jail Escapee in Jackson

Jackson, TN – On September 26, 2022, around 3:30 p.m., Chester County jail escapee, Aurelius Crayton was captured by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Crayton, 40, and another individual, David Billings, escaped from the Chester County Jail on August 24, 2022. Billings was captured shortly after the escape; however, Crayton was able to elude authorities for a little more than a month.

The Two Rivers Task Force was notified and launched the fugitive investigation immediately after the escape. The investigation led the Task Force to a residence on Windy Hill Drive in Jackson where Crayton was taken into custody without incident.

At the time of his escape, Crayton was being held at the Chester County Jail on an Aggravated Robbery Charge. He now faces an additional charge of Escape.

"When the U.S. Marshals are on your trail, we don't give up until you're caught" said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The Two Rivers Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
