U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force Captures DPS Top 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender

Alpine, TX – The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in the Midland and Alpine Division, in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations, Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, and Texas Department of Public Safety, recently apprehended Salomon Olivas Marquez. 

In 2002, Marquez was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child after an incident involving a six-year-old girl. He was subsequently sentenced to five years of confinement with a lifetime duty to register as a sex offender. In 2010, he was convicted of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements and subsequently sentenced to three years of confinement and three years of probation. On March 31, 2022, the Ector County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Marquez’s arrest for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements with Previous Conviction. On January 3, 2023, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) added Marquez to their Texas Top 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender List and was considered Armed and Dangerous. 

On September 2, 2026, the United States Marshal Service (USMS) Lone Star Fugitive Task Force apprehended Marquez in Ruidosa, Texas near the U.S/Mexico Border. Marquez was subsequently booked into the Presidio County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Ector County.
