U.S. Marshals Offer $5,000 Reward for Murder Suspect

Norfolk, VA – The U. S. Marshals Service (USMS) is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted for murder in connection to a shooting that occurred in Newport News. 

On April 1 Newport News police officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Deputy Lane and found one person suffering from a gunshot wound who later died. 

Joquan Antonio Porter, 39, of Newport News, was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling in relation to the shooting. Porter should be considered armed and dangerous.

“The U. S. Marshals Service believes there may be someone locally with information concerning Joquan Porter’s whereabouts,” said Robert Bowers, Senior Inspector with the USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. “It is our intent to incentivize those with information to contact us. Any information provided will remain confidential.”

The USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force was established in June of 2004, has partnership agreements with over 100 federal, state, and local agencies and has 8 fully operational offices. To date, CARFTF has arrested more than 111,488 fugitives.
