Jeremy G. Honaker, U.S. Marshal, Eastern District of Kentucky

Jeremy G. Honaker currently serves as the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Kentucky (E/KY). Having 29 years of military and federal law enforcement service, Jeremy was promoted as the Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for E/KY in April 2022. He became the acting U.S. Marshal in September 2022 and was appointed U.S. Marshal by Attorney General Merrick Garland in March 2023.     

Prior to arriving in Lexington, Jeremy was the Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal and Acting U.S. Marshal for the District of the Virgin Islands. He began his professional career as a Security Police member for the U.S. Air Force in 1997. After being Honorably discharged he started his career with the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) in July 2001, serving as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the Eastern District of Washington, Western District of Virginia and Southern District of West Virginia (S/WV). In 2009, he was promoted to a Senior Inspector for the Office of Professional Responsibility – Internal Affairs. Honaker currently serves as an Incident Commander for the USMS Incident Management Team and is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certified instructor for Incident Command System (ICS).

As the Acting U.S. Marshal and Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for E/KY, Honaker manages 34 sworn and administrative personnel, with six direct reports. In addition to overseeing all prisoners, enforcement, and judicial security operations, he is responsible for all finance, procurement, and asset forfeiture obligations. Under Marshal Honaker’s supervision, E/KY received the highest compliance rate among ten districts audited during the Office of Professional Responsibility – Compliance Fiscal Year 2024 review schedule, as well as the highest compliance rate in Financial Management and Procurement among 44 districts audited since 2022.     

U.S. Marshal Honaker holds a Master of Arts degree in U.S. History (2012), Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal justice (2008), and Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management (2024) from American Military University. As a lifetime learner, Jeremy recently obtained an undergraduate certificate in Distillation, Wine and Brewing Science Certificate program from the James B. Beam Institute at the University of Kentucky.
