Pete W. Cajigal, Acting U.S. Marshal

Pete Cajigal was designated to serve as the Acting United States Marshal for the District of Oregon by Attorney General Merrick Garland on September 23, 2021.

Acting Marshal Cajigal began his law enforcement career with the U.S. Marshals Service in 1988 as a deputy in Miami, Southern District of Florida; after two years there, he spent nearly a decade as a journeyman in the District of South Carolina. Returning to Miami in 1999 as a supervisory deputy, for five years he was at first in charge of court and prisoner operations and then the fugitive task force, specializing in international & foreign fugitives as well as drug traffickers.

In 2004, Cajigal became the Assistant Chief in the Middle District of Florida, based in Tampa and responsible for Jacksonville, Orlando, Fort Myers, and Ocala, spanning 35 of Florida’s 67 counties.

In 2017, he became the Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for Oregon, based in Portland; he’s a member of the Board of Directors for both the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) and the Oregon-Idaho HIDTA. Cajigal is also a member of the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association (HAPCOA), the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), and an associate member of the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police (OACP).

Acting Marshal Cajigal is a 1987 graduate of The Citadel with a B.A. in English; he is a native of Miami, FL.
