Fugitive of the Week Found Living in Maine Camper

Concord, NH – Early this morning, last week's featured "Fugitive of the Week," Adam John Montrose, 40 years-of-age, was located living in a camper on cleared lot in the 200 block of High Street in North Berwick, Maine. Mr. Montrose was being sought on multiple outstanding arrest warrants issued by both the Strafford County Superior Court and the NH Parole Board. The Strafford County warrant alleges that Montrose failed to appear on a narcotics charge, while the parole violation warrant was issued as a result of Montrose failing to abide by the conditions of his parole in connection with a prior larceny case.

Mr. Montrose had just been featured this past Wednesday (07/29/20) as the "Fugitive of the Week." This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" is distributed statewide to all New Hampshire law enforcement officers.

After being featured as the "Fugitive of the Week", members of the U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force received multiple calls pointing to the camper on High Street in North Berwick. It was due to these very strong tips that led investigators to the trailer this morning, where Montrose was arrested without incident. Mr. Montrose was transported to the York County Jail for processing and holding as a fugitive from justice based on his outstanding warrants in New Hampshire.

This arrest was made by several member agencies of the U.S. Marshals, New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force and the Maine Violent Offenders Task Force including the Belknap, Strafford and Rockingham County Sheriff's Offices, Maine State Police, North Berwick, Greenfield & Biddeford Police Departments along with deputy U.S. Marshals.

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,061 arrests (Updated as of 06/30/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
