Sex Offender Wanted Out of Pennsylvania for Multiple Warrants Arrested by U.S. Marshals

For immediate release

Youngstown, OH – Earlier this morning, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested David Springer. Springer was wanted out of Cambria County, Pennsylvania on multiple charges to include aggravated assault, kidnapping, strangulation, and threats with intent to terrorize another. The charges stem from an incident in which Springer allegedly physically assaulted a female, causing potentially life-threatening injuries.

Members of the task force obtained information that Springer had fled Pennsylvania in a stolen truck with Texas license plates. Task force members located the stolen truck at a truck stop on N. Canfield Niles Road in Youngstown and arrested Springer, who was found sleeping in the back.

Springer will be housed at the Mahoning County Jail until he can be extradited to Cambria County for his pending case. Springer is a convicted sex offender with requirements to register in Pennsylvania, and his arrest in Ohio could violate his sex offender registry terms. Further charges from the United States Attorney's Office are being reviewed at this time.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "Joint law enforcement efforts between officers in Pennsylvania and Ohio resulted in the speedy arrest of this violent fugitive. The safety of our citizens in the Northern District of Ohio is of the utmost priority of our task force members."
