Suspect Wanted for Drug Trafficking Arrested by U.S. Marshals

Las Vegas, NV – On February 7, 2024, the U.S. Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force arrested a suspect wanted on a multi-defendant indictment out of the Northern District of Ohio – Cleveland. The suspect was wanted on a federal warrant issued in 2019 for Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, and Use of a Communication Facility in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime. The warrant was part of Operation Hadley’s Hope, where other codefendants were previously arrested in Ohio. 

The U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force developed information indicating that Markell Boyd, 44, was in Las Vegas, Nevada. They requested assistance from the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force with locating and apprehending Boyd. Boyd has a violent criminal history, and it is alleged that he was involved in a drug trafficking operation that involved Fentanyl, Heroin, and Oxycodone. 

The Nevada Violent Offender Task Force arrested Boyd at approximately 12:45 p.m. in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, Nevada. Boyd was located on the Las Vegas Strip selling CDs. Boyd was arrested without incident and is in U.S. Marshals Service custody pending hearings for his federal warrant. 

U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield said, “Las Vegas hosts major events, and we are glad we can do our part to reduce the number of violent offenders.” 

The Nevada Violent Offender Task Force comprises of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, Carson County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson Police Department, Homeland Security Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Attorney General, Nevada Department of Corrections, Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, Nevada Gaming Control Board, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Washoe County District Attorney’s Office.
