U.S. Marshals Apprehend Illinois Security Guard Murder Suspect in Georgia

For immediate release

Atlanta, GA - The United States Marshals Service (USMS) Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) and Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF), in coordination with the Peoria Police Department, on February 15, 2024, located and safely arrested a man wanted by the Peoria Police Department for first-degree murder.

Tywahnn Tillman, 36, was wanted in connection with the shooting death of a security guard at a gentlemen’s club in Peoria, Illinois, on October 23, 2023.

Tillman and others were engaged in a heated argument with other patrons when security personnel intervened. A member of the security personnel and Tillman became involved in a physical altercation. Tillman was observed on video surveillance departing the club, retrieving an item from a vehicle, and then re-entering the club with a handgun and shooting the security guard in the head. Tillman then fled the scene.

After GLRFTF investigators determined Tillman fled Illinois and traveled to Georgia, they requested the assistance of the SERFTF to locate the suspect.

SERFTF investigators obtained information that Tillman was staying with family and friends in Kennesaw, Georgia, and obtained a search warrant for a residence on the 3500 block of Kennesaw Station Drive.

Tillman was located inside the residence, arrested, and transported to the Cobb County Jail to be held until extradition to Illinois.
