U.S. Marshals Capture Alabama Murder and Escape Fugitive in Memphis

Memphis, TN – An Alabama murder and escape fugitive, Travis Leshun Lee, 32, of Memphis, was captured by U.S. Marshals in Memphis on June 12, 2024.

The incident in question occurred on October 26, 2020, when Torrandine Harris was shot to death in Bessemer, AL. Travis Lee was scheduled to appear in court on March 11, 2024, for this crime. However, upon learning that his bond was being revoked, Lee fled the courtroom. 

Subsequently, on March 18, 2024, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) in Birmingham, AL, took on the case, as Lee had warrants for Failure to Appear for Murder and Escape in the 1st Degree.

After receiving information that Lee had fled to Memphis, the GCRFTF contacted the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) for assistance. With support from the Shelby County Sheriff and Memphis Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Teams, investigators from the TRVFTF were able to locate Lee at a motel in southeast Memphis. Lee was found in a room and taken into custody without incident.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby, Fayette, and Tipton County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis and Jackson Police Officers, the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Since 2021, the TRVFTF has captured over 2,600 violent offenders and sexual predators.
