Memphis, Tennessee — The Memphis Safe Task Force announces the arrest of Waltez Jones, 32, on warrants for Attempted First Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm with Intent to Commit a Felony.

According to reports, the incident occurred on November 14, 2024, when a female victim, another male subject, and two juveniles were traveling in a vehicle. Multiple shots were fired at them from another nearby vehicle allegedly driven by Jones, her former domestic partner. The victims’ vehicle crashed into a utility pole while attempting evasive maneuvers to avoid the incoming gunfire.

The female victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while the two juveniles suffered injuries from shattered glass as rounds struck the vehicle. At the time of the incident, all victims were listed in stable condition and were later released from a nearby hospital. A firearm was also recovered near the intersection shortly after the shooting.

This arrest demonstrates the Memphis Safe Task Force’s relentless pursuit of violent offenders and its commitment to ensuring justice for victims. By harnessing the combined strength of federal, state, and local partners, the Task Force works tirelessly to locate, apprehend, and hold accountable those who endanger our communities. Each operation reinforces the Task Force’s mission to dismantle violent crime networks, protect families, and deliver lasting safety across Memphis.
