Lexington, KY – The U.S. Marshals in Kentucky, working with multiple local authorities, on Dec. 30 arrested an Arizona man wanted by the Glendale, Arizona, Police Department for murder in the first degree stemming from an August 2021 shooting that left one gunshot victim deceased.
Horace Gyles, 38, was taken into custody without incident at approximately 3 p.m. in the Saxton area of Williamsburg. He is alleged to have been evading law enforcement by using various aliases to conceal his identity.
The U.S. Marshals Service Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force– London Office, working with the Kentucky State Police – Post 11, Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, Williamsburg Police Department, Kentucky State Probation and Parole, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Kentucky Army National Guard Counterdrug Air and Ground units, executed the arrest.
Also assisting in the case were Whitley County Emergency Medical Services, Kentucky AirEvac, and Whitley County 911.
“This case demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration and force multiplication,” said Jeremy Honaker, acting U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Kentucky. “It also sends a clear message to those who come to the Commonwealth of Kentucky to elude justice that we will not tolerate violent criminals living in our beautiful Bluegrass State. I want to thank all of our partners from around the state who assisted us in bringing this violent offender to justice.”
After Gyles was taken into custody, the agencies executed a search warrant.
Glendale Police Department detectives traveled into Williamsburg Dec. 30 to further their investigation.
Gyles was booked into the Whitley County Detention Center on charges of fugitive from justice, cultivating marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, where he will await his Whitley County court dates and extradition back to Arizona.
