Oklahoma Fugitive Wanted on Child Exploitation Charges Arrested in Maine

For immediate release

Portland, ME – On Friday, January 9, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Maine Violent Offender Task Force (MVOTF) arrested Jaime A. Oktay, 56, on a State of Oklahoma warrant for Aggravated Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and two counts of Possess, Procure, Manufacture, Sell, or Distribute Child Sexual Abuse Material.

Following a fugitive investigation conducted by the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force (NOVCTF), USMS investigators determined that Oktay had fled Oklahoma and was hiding in Maine. The USMS Maine Violent Offender Task Force located and arrested Oktay without incident at a residence in Waldoboro, Maine. He will be extradited back to Oklahoma pending legal proceedings.

“Fleeing across state lines does not create an escape route, it creates a longer trail for us to follow,” said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Josh Taylor for the District of Maine. “The United States Marshals Service will track you, we will find you, and we will return you to face the consequences of your actions. There is no safe haven.”

The USMS Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, and the Coast Guard Investigative Service.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of a state or federal fugitive is encouraged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at MED.TIPLINE@usdoj.gov.
