Memphis Safe Task Force Leadership and United States Attorney Meet with Memphis Faith Community

Memphis, TN – Organized by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee, on February 24, 2026, leadership of the Memphis Safe Task Force met with more than 30 church and community organizers at Grace Baptist Church in Memphis to discuss the continued success of the MSTF and collaborative efforts to reduce and federally prosecute violent crime offenses in Memphis.
Director of the United States Marshals Service, Gadyaces Serralta was joined by U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant, U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller, and Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal James Edge. The meeting was hosted and facilitated by Senior Pastor Ronnie C. King and focused on strengthening collaboration between law enforcement and the faith community.
Since the launch of the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative, officers have made 6,543 arrests, including 37 for homicide, 718 for controlled substances, 567 for firearms violations, and 91 for sex offenses. Of those arrested, 188 have been juveniles. The task force has seized 1,062 illegal firearms. These enforcement actions reflect a sustained commitment to reducing violent crime and removing dangerous weapons from Memphis neighborhoods.
The Memphis Safe Task Force, a multi-agency initiative, was organized in September 2025 to combat violent crime in Memphis. It is composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as the Tennessee National Guard, which focuses on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms, and locating missing children. Since the operation began, the MSTF has found 148 missing children.
This operation reflects the Memphis Safe Task Force’s commitment to coordinated enforcement efforts and its mission to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
