Fugitive Wanted for Murder in Massachusetts Captured in Vermont

Boston, MA – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Districts of Massachusetts and Vermont announce the apprehension of a man located in Vermont suspected of fatally shooting a victim in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Daniel Medina, 22, was wanted in connection to a deadly shooting of a Holyoke resident that occurred on Sargeant Street in Holyoke, MA on April 18, 2026. Following the shooting, Medina was charged with Murder by the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.

The Massachusetts State Police and Holyoke Police Department requested assistance from the USMS Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force (MAFTF) with locating and apprehending Medina. Medina has a documented history of firearm related offenses and was considered armed and dangerous.

The arrest was effected by the USMS MAFTF, USMS District of Vermont, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), Holyoke Police Department, Springfield, MA Police Department, Hampden County Sheriff’s Office, Vermont State Police, Weathersfield Police, and Springfield, VT Police Department.

“Today’s arrest sends a clear message: no matter where a fugitive runs, the United States Marshals Service along with our outstanding law enforcement partners will not stop until they are found,” said (A) United States Marshal Dennis Matulewicz for the District of Massachusetts. “Through coordinated investigative work and relentless pursuit by multiple agencies, this allegedly dangerous individual who is wanted for murder was safely apprehended in Vermont and will now face justice. We are especially thankful for the coordination and cooperation from our law enforcement partners in Vermont.”
