U.S. Marshals in PA Arrest WV Man Wanted on More Than 100 Counts of Child Sex Assault

Martinsburg, WV – U.S. Marshals (USMS) in Pennsylvania today arrested a man wanted in West Virginia for 118 counts of child sexual assault and incest.

Lawrence Downing, 44, fled the state May 13 after being charged by Jefferson County authorities.
The U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia, working a collateral lead from the USMS Northern District of West Virginia Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, arrested Downing in the 600 block of Pine Street in Darby, Pennsylvania.
The U.S. Marshals Service is the federal government’s primary agency for fugitive investigations. The Marshals have the broadest arrest authority among federal law enforcement agencies. U.S. Marshals assist state and local agencies in locating and apprehending their most violent fugitives.
