Marshals Arrest Man Who Terrorized Philadelphia Citizens Wearing Chucky-Style Mask

Philadelphia, PA - Investigators from the the U.S. Marshals Nevada Violent Offender Task Force (NVOTF) arrested Zymire Hughes, 22, in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Hughes was wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department for terrorizing residents in Center City Philadelphia while wearing a chucky-style Halloween mask. A warrant for aggravated assault, terroristic threat, and simple assault was issued on August 19th and the Marshals Task Force in Philadelphia was asked to assist in Hughes apprehension.

During the investigation, Marshals developed information Hughes had fled Pennsylvania and was possibly headed to Nevada. The Marshals Task Force in Philadelphia and Las Vegas began a joint investigation and investigators developed information Hughes was hiding at an apartment complex in Southeast Las Vegas. On August 25th a surveillance operation was conducted at a suspected apartment in the 6500 block of Boulder Highway and at 8pm Hughes was observed and arrested without incident. He was then transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he awaits extradition back to Pennsylvania.

This fugitive was terrorizing and intimidating members of our communities. His arrest shows our commitment to public safety.”

Eric Gartner, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated, “Individuals like Zymire Hughes who terrorize citizens in a free society should understand one simple fact—their actions will precipitate their own freedom coming to a very rapid conclusion. As always, mission accomplished.”   

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Chester Police Department, and Bucks County Sheriff's Office.
