U.S. Marshals Capture Kansas City Fugitive in St. Louis
For immediate release
Mike Stokes, Deputy U.S. Marshal
Kansas City, MO – United States Marshal Mark S. James announced today the capture of Raymond Cage in St. Louis, MO.
Cage was recently indicted by a federal grand jury in Kansas City with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was also wanted for questioning by the Kansas City Missouri Police Department in a recent homicide. Cage was known by law enforcement to be a violent individual and was considered armed and dangerous.
Investigators determined that Cage had likely fled the Kansas City area and expanded their search, coordinating with other law enforcement agencies in the region to be on the look-out for him. During the week of June 1st, Kansas City Police Department detectives and Deputy Marshals tracked him down to a relative's house in the St. Louis, Mo. metro area where the U.S. Marshals Eastern District of Missouri, St. Louis Metro Fugitive Task Force took over. Early on the morning of June 5th, members of the task force and a team from the U.S. Marshals Service Special Operations Group decided to move in and attempt the arrest. Cage was contacted inside the home where he surrendered without incident. Following an initial appearance in St. Louis federal court, he will be returned to Kansas City by the Marshals Service where he will await a preliminary hearing on the federal firearm charge. Marshal James credited investigators with Kansas City Police Department for providing valuable leads that directly contributed to the success of Deputy Marshals arresting Cage without incident.
The U.S. Marshals Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force-Kansas City Division, operates in conjunction with members of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, Independence Missouri Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and other federal law enforcement partners.
