Ranson Man Arrested by U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force

Martinsburg, WV– Members of the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force today arrested a Ranson man on charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.

Tommy Whetzel Jr., 34, was taken into custody without incident in the 10200 block of Charles Town Road.

WVSP Corporal F.H. Edwards had received information Whetzel had uploaded child pornographic images to Google. Upon the conclusion of his investigation Whetzel was charged with one count of distribution of obscene material and possession of obscene material, on a warrant signed by a Jefferson County Magistrate.

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force was asked to assist in locating and arresting Whetzel. Additional information on this case may be obtained from the West Virginia State Police. A photo of Whetzel may be found on the Eastern Regional Jail's web page.
