U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Apprehends Homicide Suspect in Somerville

For immediate release

Somerville, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest of Tomarcus Baskerville, Martavius Baskerville, Gregory Bonds and Montaveen Taylor for First Degree Murder by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. This was done in conjunction the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

On August 23, the Fayette County Sheriff's County responded to the 1100 block of Brewer Road in Somerville, Tennessee. Tavaris Lewis was found dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. Luther Smith, Dallis Douglas, Chasity McKinney and Tarkyshaw McKinney were also shot, but not fatally.

Earlier today, arrest warrants were issued by Fayette County for arrests of Tomarcus Baskerville, Martavius Baskerville, Gregory Bonds and Montaveen Taylor for First Degree Murder, four counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, and five counts of Employment of a Firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony for the shootings.

All four were located n Somerville, Tennessee earlier and arrested without incident by agents with the Task Force, Fayette County Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. A rifle and a gun were also seized during the arrest of one of the subjects.

"Brutal crimes like this elicit a swift response," said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller. "We were pleased to assist Fayette County with a quick resolution of this matter."

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff's Deputies, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, ATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
