U.S. Marshals Capture Memphis Murder Suspect in Kansas City

Memphis, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the capture of Charles Bright for Second Degree Murder.

On August 27 Demarcus Drinkwater was shot to death in a car at the 2700 block of Burns in Memphis, Tennessee. On September 23 a warrant was issued for the arrest of Charles Bright for this crime. The warrant was for Second Degree Murder and Employ Firearm W/I to Commit a Felony.

The fugitive case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force here in Memphis, Tennessee . Information was developed by investigators with the Task Force that the fugitive was in Kansas City, MO. Working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force, Bright was located and arrested in that city this morning. At the time of this press release he is in custody awaiting extradition.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff's Deputies, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, ATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
