Manchester Police Arrest U.S. Marshals Fugitive of the Week

Concord, NH – The United States Marshals Service is happy to announce the arrest of last week's featured "Fugitive of the Week" for New Hampshire. Louis John DiFazio, 64 years-of-age, of Manchester, NH was arrested during the early morning hours by officers from the Manchester Police Department. DiFazio was being sought on a federal arrest warrant which was issued by the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH. This warrant alleges that DiFazio was in violation of his conditions of supervised release after being previously convicted and sentenced on a 2005 bank robbery charge.

DiFazio had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" on March 3rd. The "Fugitive of the Week" was aired on WTPL-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.

The U.S. Marshals had provided the Manchester Police Department with the wanted poster and some initial information for DiFazio. Based on this poster and being featured as the “Fugitive of the Week,” officers were looking for Mr. DiFazio throughout central Manchester. At approximately 1:00AM this morning, officers observed a male walking in the 800 block of Elm Street that strongly resembled DiFazio. The Manchester officers were able to confirm that it was Mr. DiFazio and arrested him without incident. While conducting an inventory of DiFazio's belongings, a substance believed to be heroin/fentanyl was discovered and he was charged with possession of a controlled drug.

DiFazio was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was booked on his drug possession charge and held on the federal arrest warrant as well. DiFazio was arraigned on the drug possession charge in Manchester District Court and released on personal recognizance bail. DiFazio will be transferred into federal custody later today and will be held pending his initial court appearance by video in U.S. District Court.

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,218 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
